Camila Osorio, the top Colombian player, reigned supreme on home soil, successfully defending her Copa Colsanitas Zurich title in Bogota on Sunday.

As the No. 2 seed, Osorio defeated Polish qualifier Katarzyna Kawa 6-3, 6-3 in the final to secure her third Bogota title. She previously won the event in 2021 and last year.

Osorio is now the second player to win three or more Bogota singles titles, moving closer to Fabiola Zuluaga`s record of four titles (1999, 2002, 2003, and 2004).

A Dramatic Run: Osorio faced a tough challenge early in the week, facing match point in her second-round match against American Emina Bektas. However, she rallied to win in 2 hours and 31 minutes.

After that close call, Osorio`s performance improved. She won her next two matches in straight sets, defeating two-time champion Tatjana Maria in the quarterfinals and Julia Riera in the semifinals.

The final against Kawa was another straightforward victory for Osorio. She clinched the first set with an ace and quickly established a 3-0 lead in the second set with a double break.

Kawa fought back, using strong net play to regain one break, but couldn`t level the score. There was a moment of tension on the third championship point when a double fault by Kawa was overturned after review. Ultimately, Osorio converted her fourth championship point after 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Osorio concluded the final with 22 winners compared to Kawa`s 14. The Colombian also capitalized on five of her 10 break point opportunities to secure another Bogota title.

Despite the defeat, it was a successful week for 32-year-old Kawa, who reached her second WTA singles final nearly six years after her first. Kawa, who almost dropped out of the Top 300 last November, is now approaching a return to the Top 150.

The tournament also highlighted the impressive performance of 16-year-old American Julieta Pareja. In her WTA main-draw debut, Pareja reached the semifinals before losing to Kawa, becoming the youngest WTA semifinalist since Coco Gauff at the 2019 Linz Open.

Spanish Duo Wins Doubles Title: The Copa Colsanitas Zurich doubles title was claimed by the top-seeded Spanish pair Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo. They narrowly defeated Brazil`s Laura Pigossi and Romania`s Irina Bara 5-7, 6-2, [10-5] in the final.

This is the second title for Bucsa and Sorribes Tormo as a team, following their WTA 1000 Madrid victory last year. They also won a bronze medal together at the Paris Olympics last year.

In total, this marks the sixth WTA doubles title for both Bucsa and Sorribes Tormo.
