Chelsea icon Frank Lampard is reportedly a target for a Premier League team due to his remarkable performance at Coventry.

Lampard, 46, took over as manager of the Sky Blues in November, marking his return to coaching after a less successful period as caretaker boss at Chelsea and a previous stint at Everton.

The celebrated midfielder has revitalized his managerial career by quickly transforming Coventry from relegation candidates into serious contenders for promotion in the Championship.

Lampard`s squad has dramatically climbed the league table from 17th place to currently holding a playoff spot.

According to talkSPORT, Southampton are monitoring Lampard as a potential replacement after they dismissed manager Ivan Juric.

Juric was dismissed shortly after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat against Tottenham, which confirmed Southampton`s relegation to the Championship League.

However, Lampard is currently focused on Coventry`s push in the Premier League.

Southampton are also considering other candidates for the managerial position next season in the second division.

These include Danny Rohl of Sheffield Wednesday, Liam Rosenior of Strasbourg, and former Premier League manager David Wagner.

Rohl and Rosenior are reportedly among the leading candidates on Southampton`s shortlist.

Sheffield Wednesday`s manager successfully steered the team away from relegation to League One last season and has now led them to compete for a playoff position this season.

Rosenior, on the other hand, has achieved impressive results with Strasbourg, guiding them to fourth place and Champions League qualification contention after they finished 13th in Ligue 1 the previous season.

First team coach Simon Rusk will serve as Southampton`s interim manager until the end of the current season, assisted by Adam Lallana.
