Henderson even managed to save a penalty taken by Omar Marmoush, which followed Eberechi Eze`s opening goal in the 16th minute.

However, the match was not without controversy for him, as he handled the ball outside the penalty area. Henderson blocked the ball from reaching Erling Haaland but was not shown a card, and VAR did not recommend an on-field review for the incident.

Following the final whistle, the former Manchester United goalkeeper delighted fans by celebrating on the Wembley pitch wearing a classic baseball cap.

Henderson was later involved in a brief post-match interaction with Pep Guardiola, who appeared to be pointing his finger angrily at the Palace keeper.

Despite the on-pitch intensity, Henderson`s thoughts were elsewhere. His father, Dougie, tragically passed away in July, just days after the Euro 2024 final, where Henderson was an unused substitute for England`s match against Spain.

After finally lifting the FA Cup trophy today, Henderson dedicated Crystal Palace`s momentous win to his father.

Speaking on live television, he stated, “It`s why I left [Man Utd], it`s what I set out to do. But honestly, I lost my dad at the start of the season, and I`ll miss him here today. But he was with me every kick of the ball today, and I dedicate that win to him.”

Fans responded emotionally to Henderson`s heartfelt dedication.

One fan commented: “That’s incredibly touching.”

Another supporter declared: “What a man, fantastic goalkeeper.”

A third noted: “Shed a few tears.”

Another added sympathetically: “RIP to him, stay strong always.”
