Dustin Poirier Reiterates Retirement Plans: “What’s Left to Fight For?”

MMA

Former UFC interim champion Dustin Poirier has once again stated his firm decision to retire from professional fighting after his upcoming bout.

Poirier expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, “Right now, I’m very confident and committed to my decision. I have one fight left. I know I am capable of competing at the highest level for several more years. However, I need to ask myself, what am I truly fighting for at this stage? Is it just for financial gain? I don`t want to disrespect the integrity of the sport. My driving force has always been the pursuit of a championship. If a title fight isn`t on the horizon, then it might be time for me to step away.”

He further elaborated on his reasons, “I want to leave the sport in good health, allowing me to transition into commentary and, more importantly, be present and healthy for my daughter and future children. I`ve come to realize that my time in the octagon is nearing its end.”
