The Anaheim Ducks have announced they have reached a new agreement with goaltender Ville Husso, signing him to a two-year contract extension. The team confirmed the signing on Sunday.
Husso, a 30-year-old Finnish netminder, initially joined the Ducks roster in February. He was acquired by Anaheim in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings, with the Red Wings receiving future considerations in the deal.
In his limited appearances with the Ducks so far, Husso played four games. During this period, he recorded a record of one win, one regulation loss, and one overtime loss (1-1-1). His statistics with Anaheim include a goals-against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .925.
Across the entire season, combining his time with both Detroit and Anaheim, Husso has appeared in 13 games, posting a combined record of two wins, six regulation losses, and three overtime losses (2-6-3).
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Husso possesses significant NHL experience, having played a total of 145 career games. These games were split between the St. Louis Blues, the Detroit Red Wings, and his current team, the Anaheim Ducks.
Over his National Hockey League career, Husso holds a record of 71 wins, 46 regulation losses, and 19 overtime losses. He has also recorded seven career shutouts. His career average statistics stand at a 3.05 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.
Husso was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round, 94th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He also boasts international success, having been part of the Finnish team that secured a gold medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
