Demetrious Johnson, a former UFC champion, has criticized the promotion`s apparent desire to arrange a fight between Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett.
Johnson stated, “The next contender in the lightweight division should be Arman Tsarukyan. This is turning into a reality show [when UFC staged the staredown between Topuria and Pimblett in the octagon].” He emphasized, “Obviously, Tsarukyan is the top contender for the belt. He is ranked first in the division. But the UFC is imposing the fight between Ilya and Paddy on us just because it will probably sell better.”
