Welterweight UFC champion Jack Della Maddalena is highly confident he will defeat former lightweight title holder Islam Makhachev. A potential bout between the two is reportedly being planned for this autumn.

Expressing his conviction about the potential fight, Della Maddalena was quoted stating, “This is the first defense of the dream title. To meet with the best fighter regardless of weight categories and to settle the score with him for Volkanovski. We saw what Volkanovski did to him. I will do it. He is too small. He is too little, I will reach him.” He specifically highlighted Makhachev`s size as a disadvantage, reiterating, “He is too small. He is too little, I will reach him.”

Della Maddalena secured his welterweight title in May, earning a unanimous decision victory over Belal Muhammad.
