Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has revealed the details of his post-match conversation with Pep Guardiola, who confronted him about time-wasting after Palace`s historic victory at Wembley.

Henderson exchanged words with the visibly upset Manchester City manager following their 1-0 triumph in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Henderson delivered a series of brilliant saves that were crucial as Palace lifted their first major domestic trophy.

The 28-year-old keeper was arguably lucky to avoid a red card in the first half after appearing to handle the ball outside his penalty area.

Erling Haaland seemed set to go through on goal, but Henderson blocked the ball away from the striker before he could round him.

VAR reviewed the incident but determined it did not constitute denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Consequently, the referee`s original decision of not awarding a free kick or showing a card to Henderson was upheld.

After the match, a frustrated Guardiola was seen heading directly towards the former Manchester United goalkeeper.

Television cameras captured the pair in a heated discussion on the Wembley pitch.

However, Henderson clarified that Guardiola`s frustration wasn`t about the earlier handball incident.

Speaking to ITV, Henderson stated: “I just wanted to shake his hand.”

He added: “But I think he was disappointed with the time-wasting. I said, `You got the ten minutes you wanted`. There are no hard feelings.”

Coaching staff from both benches also clashed on the touchline at Wembley as tempers flared during the second half.

Officials added a significant 13 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the contest.

Despite dominating possession throughout the match, Manchester City was unable to find a breakthrough against an inspired Henderson in the Crystal Palace goal.

The triumphant goalkeeper dedicated the FA Cup victory to his father, Dougie, who sadly passed away last year.

He continued: “It’s why I left [Manchester United], it’s what I set out to do.”

“But honestly I lost my dad at the start of the season and I’ll miss him here today. He was with me every kick of the ball today and I dedicate that win to him.”
