Tennis star Danielle Collins might not have won the Miami Open this year, but she`s leaving with something even more valuable – a new family member. Collins` compassionate actions saved an injured dog she found near Hard Rock Stadium, leading to his adoption.
After her victory against Rebeka Masarova, Collins shared that she and her team discovered the injured dog by the roadside two days prior. They immediately rushed him to a veterinary hospital. The dog, who needed urgent surgery and treatment for lung issues, was promised a home by Collins if he recovered.
Collins kept her followers updated on social media, sharing heartwarming photos of her cuddling the dog at the hospital. She named him Crash Marino Collins – “Crash” for his accident and “Marino” after the famous Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino.
After five days of oxygen therapy, Crash`s story reached a happy conclusion. He was released from the hospital, officially adopted by Collins, and is now settling into his new life.
Collins expressed her joy on Instagram, saying, “His breathing is normal, his wounds are healing, and he’s loving all the attention.” She described Crash as curious, loving, and grateful for a second chance. Collins was deeply moved by seeing the dog suffering after being hit by a car and left unattended.
“I`m just thankful I could be there to get him help,” she added.
Crash joins Collins` existing family of four dogs, including her famous Labradoodle, Quincy, nicknamed `Mr. Q.` Mr. Q, who was a constant companion during Collins` successful year, now has a new brother.
Collins thanked everyone who prayed for Crash and the veterinary team who provided excellent care.
