Daniel Cormier, the former two-division UFC champion now working as a commentator and analyst, recently offered his prediction on a potential, albeit currently hypothetical, matchup between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. Cormier stated his belief that Jon Jones, known as `Bones`, would emerge victorious if the fight were to happen right now.
Speaking on the “Pound 4 Pound” channel alongside Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, Cormier explained his reasoning:
I swear, but I think Jon Jones will beat him right now. Tom doesn’t know what championship rounds are. He doesn’t know what it’s like. He doesn’t have that experience.
Cormier emphasized Aspinall`s lack of experience in championship-length fights as a key factor giving Jones the advantage at this point in time.
