Cassidy of Golden Knights Calls Lilleberg’s Hit on Hertl “Senseless”

Bruce Cassidy, the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights, expressed his displeasure with a late hit that resulted in an injury to one of his key players.

In Sunday`s game, with the Golden Knights leading the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 in the final period, Vegas forward Tomas Hertl was forcefully checked into the boards by Tampa Bay defenseman Emil Lilleberg following a breakaway attempt.

Hertl had to leave the game and did not return. Lilleberg was penalized with a two-minute boarding minor.

Following the game, Cassidy openly criticized Lilleberg`s hit.

“To me, it was a kind of senseless hit,” the Golden Knights coach stated to reporters.
