The Vancouver Canucks have bolstered their pool of young prospects by acquiring forward Ilya Safonov.
Vancouver obtained the 24-year-old forward from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations, the team announced.
Safonov spent the most recent season playing in the KHL for Ak Bars Kazan. He appeared in 51 games, during which he registered seven goals and added 15 assists.
Throughout his KHL career, all of which has been with Ak Bars Kazan, the Russian forward has accumulated 49 goals and 46 assists over 263 contests.
Safonov was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
