Canadiens sign defenceman William Trudeau to one-year, two-way deal

The Montreal Canadiens have announced the signing of defenceman William Trudeau to a one-year, two-way contract.

Trudeau, a 22-year-old blue-liner, was originally a fourth-round selection by Montreal in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, he played 68 games for the Canadiens` American Hockey League affiliate, the Laval Rocket, where he recorded five goals and added 14 assists.

Over his three seasons with the Laval Rocket, the left-shooting defenceman has accumulated a total of 70 points, scoring 20 goals and providing 50 assists, across 198 games played.
