SUNRISE, Florida — Brad Marchand is set to play his first game for Florida.
The Panthers have announced that Marchand will be in the lineup for Friday night`s home game against the Utah Hockey Club. Marchand, who was acquired from Boston three weeks ago, has been sidelined with an upper-body injury.
This will mark a significant moment in Marchand`s career as it will be his first NHL game in a jersey other than a Bruins sweater. He is expected to join Florida`s second line alongside Sam Bennett and Mackie Samoskevich.
Samoskevich expressed his excitement about playing with Marchand, praising his skill and hockey sense. He also noted Marchand`s positive presence off the ice.
Panthers coach Paul Maurice believes Marchand`s experience and skill will be valuable for the team, especially in their playoff aspirations and quest for another Stanley Cup.
Maurice highlighted Marchand`s impressive career, noting his championship pedigree and all-around game. He emphasized Marchand`s tenacity, physicality, and high skill level.
Despite the initial strangeness of seeing Marchand in Panthers colors after years with Boston, he has reportedly integrated well into the Florida team.
Defenceman Gus Forsling emphasized Marchand`s positive impact on the locker room and on-ice competitiveness, hailing him as a valuable veteran addition.
