Bokondji Imama`s season is over early due to injury.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Saturday that Imama had successful surgery at UPMC Mercy Hospital to fix a bicep injury. His recovery is expected to take between four and six months.

Imama, 28, was playing in his fourth NHL season. Over 16 games, he scored one goal and accumulated 30 penalty minutes. He also played 24 games in the AHL, where he recorded five points.

It`s not known exactly when Imama was injured. He played for 5:41 on Tuesday, which is typical for his season average, but then missed Pittsburgh`s game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

Imama was originally drafted in the sixth round in 2015. Before joining Pittsburgh, he played in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
