The St. Louis Blues are solidifying a key part of their goaltending duo.
The club announced Saturday that they have signed backup netminder Joel Hofer to a two-year contract extension valued at $6.8 million, carrying an average annual value of $3.4 million.
Announcing the deal, the Blues stated (for instance, on their X account) that “Joel Hofer won`t be subject to offer sheets after signing a two-year extension worth $6.8 million.” This comment appears to allude to the notable offer sheets the Blues made last year for Edmonton Oilers forward Dylan Holloway and defenceman Philip Broberg, both of whom were significant players in St. Louis`s push towards the post-season.
Hofer, 24 years old, appeared in 31 games during the 2024-25 season, posting a record of 16 wins and 8 losses. He finished with a .904 save percentage and a 2.64 goals-against average, and also recorded one shutout.
The goaltender, originally from Winnipeg, was selected by the Blues with the 107th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
