As Draper hits Top 5, Raducanu and Boulter are paying close attention

Sports News

Jack Draper`s ascent into the PIF ATP Rankings Top 5 has been a significant moment this season. He`s established himself as a leading player on the ATP Tour and is motivating other British tennis pros.

Hologic WTA Tour athletes Emma Raducanu (2021 US Open champion) and Britain`s top woman, Katie Boulter, are among those paying attention. Both commended the 23-year-old on his achievements, including an Indian Wells title and reaching another ATP Masters 1000 final in Madrid.

“It`s incredible to witness his accomplishments and everything he`s done,” Raducanu told Sky Sports. “I know he`s a tremendous tennis player with a commanding presence that allows him to dictate matches. It`s really impressive to see him perform so dominantly.”

Draper, Boulter, and Raducanu are all competing in Rome for the Internazionali BNL d`Italia this week. Boulter humorously mentioned her plan to chat with Draper.

“The first thing I`m going to do when I see him is ask him how he plays on clay,” Boulter quipped. “The level of tennis he`s shown recently has been incredibly impressive. Seeing him so firmly established – reaching two Masters finals within a month – is already remarkable, not to mention winning his first title.”

On Monday, Draper climbed past 99-time tour winner Novak Djokovic to reach a career-best ranking of World No. 5, a significant jump from his World No. 18 position at the Australian Open just months prior.

Currently in peak form, Draper holds a 19-5 win/loss record for the season, according to the Infosys ATP Index.

“More than anything, I believe it helps others see that they can achieve similar success,” Boulter commented. “When you see peers in your own environment performing exceptionally well, it makes you question why you or anyone else couldn`t do the same. I think that`s the most significant impact. Obviously, I`m incredibly happy for him and everyone else doing well.”
