According to recent reports, Arsenal has submitted an offer to sign Christian Norgaard, the midfielder from Brentford.
Specifically, The Athletic claims that the Gunners have proposed a bid of £9.3 million for the 31-year-old player.
Arsenal is currently looking to strengthen its midfield following Jorginho`s departure to Flamengo on a free transfer.
Furthermore, they have not yet reached an agreement with Thomas Partey regarding a new contract, and the Ghanaian international`s current deal is set to expire next week.
As of now, Partey is expected to leave the Emirates upon the conclusion of his contract.
Last season, Norgaard featured in 34 Premier League matches for Brentford, contributing five goals and four assists.
Since joining the Bees from Fiorentina in 2019, the Danish midfielder has been a key figure in the team`s setup.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Norgaard is reportedly keen on moving to North London, with negotiations ongoing.
Conversely, The Mirror suggests that Norgaard could have left Brentford on a free transfer in March but instead signed a new two-year contract after rejecting four other free-transfer offers.
Arsenal also intends to bring in another midfielder in the upcoming days and weeks.
Mikel Arteta`s side is reportedly close to finalising the transfer of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old Zubimendi was reportedly in London last week to conclude the deal and is anticipated to be officially announced as an Arsenal player in July.
Real Sociedad is believed to prefer the transfer being completed next month for financial reasons.
Sources indicate that Arsenal may pay slightly more than the Spaniard`s €60 million (£51m) release clause to facilitate payment in installments.
Additionally, Arsenal is expected to finalise a deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, by activating his reduced £5 million release clause.
Kepa, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, is set to join as backup for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya.
The club`s leadership, including new transfer chief Andrea Berta, remains focused on signing a centre-forward during the current transfer window.
SunSport reported last week that talks for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko have stalled due to the Slovenian`s wage demands, while Sporting`s Viktor Gyokeres is considered a secondary option.
It has also been suggested that Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, whom Arsenal failed to sign in January, is still admired and could become a target again if deals for Sesko or Gyokeres do not materialise.
