Ekaterina Alexandrova extended her strong performance in 2025 by defeating sixth-seeded Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour. This victory propels her into the quarterfinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

This marks Alexandrova`s fourth win against a Top 10 player this season and her 18th overall. Her personal best for Top 10 wins in a single season is five, achieved in 2021. Earlier this year, the world No. 22 secured her fifth WTA title in Linz and reached the semifinals in both Doha and Charleston.

In their first encounter, Andreeva, the 17-year-old champion of Dubai and Indian Wells, started strongly, breaking serve in the opening game. However, Alexandrova quickly recovered, breaking back immediately and then dominating the match with her powerful serve and aggressive play.

Alexandrova hit 19 winners, including eight aces, compared to Andreeva`s 11. Andreeva struggled with her first serve, landing only 48% and accumulating 24 unforced errors.

Alexandrova mentioned after the match that she had prepared for a tough challenge, and despite the scoreline, some moments were indeed difficult. In the quarterfinals, she is set to play against either third seed Jessica Pegula or Magdalena Frech.
