2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Your Guide to the Team Event

Golf

The PGA Tour`s exclusive team competition is set to tee off this week at TPC Louisiana.

This year`s Zurich Classic of New Orleans will see a field of 160 players forming 80 two-man teams. Headlining the event are Ryder Cup partners Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, who are returning to defend their title after securing a playoff victory last season against Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer.

For McIlroy, this tournament marks his first competitive outing since his memorable win at the 2025 Masters, a victory that completed his career Grand Slam.

The format involves 36 holes of stroke play to determine which teams make the cut; the top 33 teams and ties will advance to the final two rounds. The championship will be decided through two rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and two rounds of four-ball (best ball). The winning duo will receive a significant payout of $1,329,400 and 400 FedEx Cup points each.

Since 2017, the event has featured this popular two-man team format, often bringing together players with connections through nationality, college ties, or shared hometowns. The current tournament scoring record of 30-under 258 was established in 2023 by Nick Hardy and Davis Riley.
